Take a Deep Breath with Fireman Creative & Breathe Project

A recent study from the American Lung Association comes to a troubling conclusion: “Pittsburgh’s air quality among worst in nation.”

Over the last few months, Fireman Creative has had the privilege of designing the Breathe Project website, which has been launched in time for a new wave of discussion about pollution and air quality in Pittsburgh.

Earlier this week, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette featured an article addressing the complicated implications of that study, and what it means for the health and future of the greater Pittsburgh region. The article features Matthew Mehalik, executive director of Breathe Project at the Energy Innovation Center.

Breathe Project is a clearinghouse for information on air quality in Pittsburgh, southwestern Pennsylvania and beyond. We use the best available science and technology to better understand the quality of the air we breathe and provide opportunities for citizens to engage and take action.

Organized by Breathe Collective, the Breathe Project website provides a host of information about air quality, science, and activism. There are also great interactive tools that help you keep track of the air quality in your neighborhood, monitor “Our Air in Real Time” via live feeds of the sky in different parts of Pittsburgh, report toxic smells, and get involved with a number of initiatives currently fighting pollution and climate change.
